Die Isola Madre<\/strong> ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte der Borrom\u00e4ischen Inseln im Lago Maggiore<\/strong>. Von einigen Geb\u00e4uden bedeckt, ist sie vor allem f\u00fcr ihre \u00fcppig bewachsenen G\u00e4rten bekannt, in denen man ausgefallene botanische Sammlungen finden kann. Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde sie \u201eIsola di San Vittore\u201d genannt, danach nannte man sie \u201eIsola Maggiore<\/strong>\u201d. Der heutzutage offiziell gebr\u00e4uchliche Name \u201eMadre\u201d ist auf die historische Dominanz der Insel im Lago Maggiore zur\u00fcckzuf\u00fchren.<\/p>

Die Geschichte der Isola Madre ist seit 1500 verkn\u00fcpft mit derjenigen der Familie Borromeo. Die Familie begann in dieser Zeit mit den ersten Umbauarbeiten der Insel, um sie zun\u00e4chst als Obstgarten zu nutzen, danach f\u00fcr den Olivenanbau und zuletzt als Zitrusplantage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Im Jahre 1978 f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich gemacht, ist der \u201ePalazzo Madre\u201d, dessen Geschichte bis ins 16. Jahrhundert zur\u00fcckreicht, besonders interessant aufgrund der Rekonstruktion der Raumausstattungen mit Einrichtungsgegenst\u00e4nden aus verschiedenen historischen Wohnsitzen der Familie Borromeo.<\/p>

Die Besichtigung des \u201eSalone Veneziano\u201d ist absolut empfehlenswert. Der Raum verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber eine pr\u00e4chtige Rokoko-Trompe-l\u2019\u0153il-Verzierung und wird von einem wertvollen Kronleuchter aus mundgeblasenem Kristallglas von Murano erhellt. Die W\u00e4nde sind ebenfalls mit Trompe-l\u2019\u0153il-Malereien verziert, die an einen blumenbedeckten Pavillon erinnern. Dar\u00fcber hinaus gibt es einen Empfangssaal; den Saal der Jahreszeiten mit einem gro\u00dfen Arazzo sowie das Puppenzimmer, welches eine bedeutende Sammlung von Puppen aus dem 18. Jahrhundert aus Frankreich und Deutschland beherbergt. Einzigartig ist au\u00dferdem die auf das 17., 18. und 19. Jahrhundert zur\u00fcckgehende Sammlung von Marionetten und Puppentheatern in dem Hause Borromeo, die haupts\u00e4chlich der Unterhaltung und dem Zeitvertreib diente.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Der Palast ist von einem wundersch\u00f6nen botanischen Garten umgeben, der von dem franz\u00f6sischen Schriftsteller Gustave Flaubert als \u201eParadies auf Erden\u201d beschrieben wurde. Der auf Terrassen errichtete Park beherbergt seltene und exotische Pflanzenarten aus verschiedenen Teilen der Erde sowie farbenfrohe Tiere. Es kommt nicht selten vor, dass man auf kunterbunte Papageien, chinesische Fasane oder elegante \u2013 auch wei\u00dfe \u2013 Pfauen trifft. Wo sich fr\u00fcher die antike Kirche \u201eChiesa di San Vittore\u201d befand, erhebt sich heute die im Jahr 1858 erbaute Kapelle der Familie Borromeo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
