Hoch oben, auf den felsigen Klippen und mit Blick auf den See, befindet das Santa Caterina del Sasso<\/strong> ohne Zweifel in einer der sch\u00f6nsten Landschaften des Lago Maggiore<\/strong>.<\/p>

Die Geschichte dieses Ortes hat ihren Anfang 1170, als sich ein reicher Kaufmann namens Alberto Besozzi, w\u00e4hrend er \u00fcber den See fuhr, auf einmal in einem heftigen Sturm wiederfand und zur Heiligen Caterina betete. Er strandete auf einem nahen Felsen und \u00fcberlebte.
Daraufhin lebte er bis zu seinem Lebensende in einer Einsiedelei und erf\u00fclle so sein Gel\u00fcbde. Die Bewohner der Nachbarl\u00e4nder begannen Santa Caterina zu besuchen, damit der Einsiedler sie segnen konnten.
Zum Dank bauten Sie eine Kapelle, um ihn zu ehren. Die Kirche verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber wundersch\u00f6ne Fresken aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, die auch heute noch besichtigt werden k\u00f6nnen.
Die Kapelle wurde originalgetreu wieder aufgebaut. Hier bietet sich, hoch \u00fcber den Felsen, die bis zu 200 Meter in die dunklen Tiefen sinken, ein beeindruckender Blick \u00fcber den See. Nach einer wechselhaften Geschichte wurde die Kapelle im Jahr 1770 mit dem Aufkommen des Habsburgerreiches geschlossen.
Nach genau zwei Jahrhunderten, im Jahr 1970, wurde mit der Renovierung begonnen, die ganze 16 Jahre dauerte. Im Jahre 1986 \u00f6ffnete die Eremo di Santa Caterina, die Einsiedelei von Santa Caterina, wieder ihre Pforten.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Die Kirche zeichnet sich durch einen Portikus, der aus vier B\u00f6gen im Renaissance-Stil gebildet wird, aus. Das Geb\u00e4ude verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber eine einzigartige Struktur. Drei Kapellen, die in verschiedenen Epochen gebaut wurden, bilden den Innenraum. Die Bilder innerhalb und au\u00dferhalb der Kirche umfassend einen gro\u00dfen Zeitraum und stammen aus der Zeit des 14. bis zum 19. Jahrhunderts.
